| Weekly Trash and Recycling in our neighborhood (north of Royal Lane) is TUESDAY On the rare occasions when Tuesday is a holiday, there will be an alternate pickup, typically on Wednesday. But since most holidays fall on Mondays, Thursdays, or Fridays, there are no Tuesday holidays in 2009 or 2010. If you have more trash than will fit in your cart, the city says that you can "occasionally" put a separate bag of trash next to it. However, if this happens too often, they may suggest that you get a second garbage cart. The charge for a second cart and pickup is $11.86 per month, but very few people have needed them. A better option is that the city will be happy to send out someone from the Sanitation department to show residents what was in the trash that could have gone in the Recycling cart. Crushing bulky containers or folding boxes flat can also help. RECYCLING RECYCLE TVs & Computers - they contain toxic metals. | Bulky Trash & Brush Collection Remember that in our neighborhood, brush and bulky trash is picked up the week of the 4th Monday of the month. This does not mean the week of the last Monday, because some months have 5 Mondays. Always put out your brush and bulky items the weekend prior to the 4th Monday. Putting it out on the wrong week can lead to a $261 fine (the City makes a special trip to pick it up). Ouch! |
