Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Review:

The well-named Vista Grill offers a spectacular view of Puerto Vallarta with food to match.

SETTING - High on the hillside overlooking Puerto Vallarta and the Pacific.  It's terraced
inside and out to enhance the views.  The breezy dining rooms are delightful and there is also a
patio under the stars.

FOOD - The menu is contemporary.  Among my favorites, for the appetizer, the Espresso &
Chocolate Braised Boneless Short Rib with Vanilla Bean Potato Puree.  For the entree, the
Seared Boat Scallops with Cubed Short Rib, Roasted Tomato Ragout, and Whole Grain Mustard
Sauce.  There's a
lot more, but you get the idea.  You can see their entire menu by clicking
here.  Decent wine list, too.

AMBIANCE - White tablecloths, lots of wine glasses.  A great place to watch the sun set or
later enjoy the twinkling lights of the city as you dine.  They often have mellow live music.

RESERVATIONS - This restaurant is rarely crowded, but I would call anyway, especially if
you want to request a table on the patio.  Click the
weather page to find the time of sunset and
then maybe arrive before that.  The Vista Grill is only 6 or 8 blocks up from Los Muertos
beach in Old Vallarta (I've walked it many times), but the last 3 are
steeply uphill.  It's
worthwhile to take an inexpensive taxi.  Open 5:30 - 11:30.

BOTTOM LINE - It's not cheap, but for incredible views of the city  and a first class
dinner, the Vista Grill is a hidden gem.
