Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Review:

Oscar's
is on the island in the river downtown and is one of the prettiest, classiest looking restaurants in the city.  I have not personally eaten there yet (although I've been to the bar a couple times), but I want to mention it.  Full review to come.

SETTING  -  On the tropical island in the Rio Cuale.  As you walk down the new extension of the Malecon, you can see Oscar's from the foot bridge.  It's on the same island as The River Cafe, just a hundred yards away.  Here's the location (Oscar's on the left, closest to the ocean, and The River Cafe is just to the right of the middle bridge).

FOOD  -
International.  Here's the dinner menu. Entrees $15-$20 ($169,00 on the menu is about $16.90).

AMBIANCE  -  A spacious, almost trendy-looking place with thatched roof and marble floors and columns -- a mix of jungle and contemporary.  Looks better in real life than in the photos.  It is wide open to the sea breezes.  The carved stone bar is quite stunning.  There is live music in the evening.  Very mellow.

RESERVATIONS  -  Probably not necessary.

BOTTOM LINE  -
Oscar's is so beautiful, this one is on my list to try next time.  If you get there before I do, email me.
