| Cafe de Olla Mexican 168 Basilio Badillo, Puerto Vallarta 223-1626 |
| Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Review: Cafe de Olla restaurant has developed almost a cult following among Mexican food aficionados. SETTING - A quaint little building in old downtown -- classic Puerto Vallarta. FOOD - Mexican, including all the standards. Everything is fresh and good. Their signature twice-backed potatoes are cooked right at the sidewalk. I get the Plato Mexicano (Mexican plate, pictured below). I'm in heaven. AMBIANCE - Small but very nice inside. There are 2 two-seat tables right on the sidewalk, if you get lucky. Talk about a great place to people-watch! The line forms very early at dinner. Be prepared to wait. Lunch is not quite as crowded. RESERVATIONS - I wish. No credit cards. Closed Tuesdays. BOTTOM LINE - For traditional Mexican food, it doesn't get any better. |
