Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Review:

La Chata
is a good Mexican restaurant right on the Malecon.

SETTING  -  The entrance is at street level, but the restaurant is on the second floor -- which provides some fine views of the Malecon, Banderas Bay, and the sunset.

FOOD  -
The food is served on hand-painted Mexican platters.  There are plenty of choices.  The tasty Carne Asada Tampiquena will be cooked as you like it.  Hand-made corn tortillas (not the gringo flour kind).  Large margaritas.  It's not fancy, but it's good.  Very reasonable prices.

AMBIANCE  -
In addition to the breezy open-air tables at the front, there are an equal number of balcony tables on the side of this corner building.  So if you want to sit outside, the odds are good.  The views of the bustling Malecon and the sea alone, are worth the price of of the meal.  Strolling mariachi musicians add to the festivities.

BOTTOM LINE  -
A good choice for a casual Mexican meal if you're on the Malecon.
