Dallas Restaurant Review:

Mi Piaci
is perhaps the most beautiful Italian restaurant in Dallas -- with food to match.  It
was named Best Italian Restaurant in Dallas in the Zagat surveys in 2006, 2007, & 2008
(the most recent as of this time).

SETTING - An attractive building on Montfort Drive, a block south of Beltline in north
Dallas.  The huge rear windows look out on a small private lake and fountain.  Great place for
business lunch or dinner or first-rate Italian food anytime
.

FOOD -
The menu starts with some of the classic Italian antipastos, including samplings of
“Tuscan farmhouse cheeses”, followed by an extensive selection of salads.  Then come the
half dozen risottos and a dozen incredible pastas.  Their pastas are either made
in casa in
their own kitchen (which you can see), or are
pastas importata – imports nearly as good as the
house-made.

Finally you reach the entrees, which include Salmone Fiorentina (black pepper crusted salmon
with caramelized onion mashed potatoes and a pomegranate port reduction), Pesce Branzino
(lemon glazed sea bass on basil pesto risotto), Capesante Saltate (pan seared diver scallops
on black truffle risotto), Costatine d’Agnello (herb seared lamb chops over Gorgonzola
polenta with sautéed spinach and a Barolo wine sauce), Osso Buco alla Milanese, etc.  Wow.
Like the menu, the prices are above-average ... $15-$20 for pastas, $20-$35 for entrees.
And
worth it.  You can see their entire menu (and literally grab the corners of the pages and
turn them) by visiting their
web site.

WINE - An extensive all-Italian list, probably over a hundred labels.  They’re from all
regions of Italy, sorted by Medium Reds, Full Bodied Reds, Noble Reds, etc.  If you're not
that familiar with Italian wines, just ask your waiter.  The service is unobtrusive but top-
notch.  They also have a very nice bar overlooking the dining room.

AMBIANCE - The style is smart Italian contemporary – you may think you're at a trendy
place in L.A.  The interior is breath-taking, with soaring ceilings, enormous spiral columns, and
plenty of space between the tables.

BOTTOM LINE - Mi Piaci is a Dallas classic.  Whether you go with friends, family, or
business guests, the restaurant inevitably gets rave reviews.   You won't be disappointed.
